Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive technique using energy to treat physical and emotional ailments / problems. The Practitioner is a channel which the energy is drawn through by the need or imbalance of the recipient.

It is a system of natural healing which evolved from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (1865 – 1926) who lived in Japan. He was inspired to develop this system from ancient Buddhist teachings after many years of study, research and meditation. Reiki is taught by Reiki masters passing on the traditions to their students. Reiki is formed from two Japanese words: Rei = universal and Ki = life force or energy (pronounced ray-key).

As running water smoothes the jagged edges of the rock until it is smooth enough to roll away; Reiki flows to the areas of need, soothing pain and supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Reiki restores the balance in one’s life.

The client lies down or sits comfortably and relaxes. There is no need to remove clothing. The Practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms.

A treatment takes between 60 – 90 minutes with each position being held for several minutes.
